About CMI

In 1969, CMI began its history of creating technological breakthroughs to meet customers' needs. The company was founded by CMI's Chairman James (Jim) S. Bianco. Jim, who with CMI holds more than 100 patents, laid the foundation for innovative solutions to customers needs; and set the standards for industry's most accurate and reliable data collection terminals. While the company has evolved since its inception, Jim Bianco's dedication to building innovative solutions has been carried on as a hallmark of Control Module for close to four decades.

Our ability to develop innovative products and further the field of automated data collection and workforce management has earned us recognition as the industry leader. CMI is led by a highly experienced management team and has one of the strongest, most dedicated engineering and design teams in the industry

Control Module has a history of "firsts": we developed the first portable time & attendance terminal, the first using barcode technology, the first terminal using secure media technology, the first biometrics terminal and the first Java-programmable data terminal. CMI also holds numerous patents and has pioneered the development of products now considered industry standards, including:

CMI products are now used around the world for applications in time and attendance, access control, process control and machine control. CMI's Genus line of Java-programmable terminals are the only workforce management devices that serve as Internet appliances, and can communicate anywhere on the Internet, via a Web services model. This enables CMI's terminals to seamlessly integrate into a variety of back-end databases, including HRMS, ERP, accounting and payroll. CMI's Genus terminals have created - for the first time - the ability for customers to realize the maximum potential of their workforce management hardware, by offering a powerful interface to connect highly customized applications and the databases that fuel them.
